If you have ever studied a TRX dyno graph you may have noticed the power dip towards the top of the rpm range. This is actually a side effect of part of the factory tuning that calls for an excessive amount of fuel to dumped in anticipation for redline.

This fuel dump is intended to maintain catalytic converts temps stay within range, but is known to be very overly excessive, causing about a 25-35hp loss from 5-6000rpm.

Because adjusting this fuel dump to a lighter level requires a aftermarket tune and an unlocked pcm, we wanted to see if there was any bolt on parts that could help mitigate this overly rich fuel mixture and bring back that lost power.

We were pleasantly surprised to see the extra airflow from the S&b intake was such an improvement over stock, that the power increased roughly 10-25hp throughout the curve! The majority of the improvements are seen at the top of the Rpm’s and directly combat the factory power loss from the aggressive fuel enrichment.

Next step we will be adding our favorite slip on lower pully to see what full bolt ons are capable of! Finally we will unlock the pcm and see if we can unlock any more power on the dyno and improve the drivability via trans tunning!!

 


IT'S ALL ABOUT HORSEPOWER.

We have done extensive dyno testing throughout the development of our intake to ensure our kit makes the most horsepower. Preliminary dyno testing of our prototype kits has shown a peak boost increase of over 1 psi along with healthy horsepower and torque gains.
